ECO-LIVING

Our retreat is designed on sustainable living principles using open space for natural heating and cooling.
The concept of Springmount Retreat requires you to share in communal living spaces. Setting the fire, preparing meals, cleaning up and practicing yoga are activities shared by everyone.
We believe our retreat is a special place to commune, we invite you to bring your favourite games and activities (eg - a guitar).
We encourage a technology free haven to bring people together. A variety of games are on hand.

ENVIRONMENT

​

Our retreat is home to many native birds and animals.
Kangaroos often graze and relax a few metres from the premises and eagles soar on the ridgetop. We believe we are guardians of this land and would like all visitors to equally respect this amazing place and enjoy the 90 acres of conservation park.

IS SPRINGMOUNT RIGHT FOR YOU?

For all visitors to fully enjoy the eco retreat experience the following information applies :

No pets
No smoking
Strictly no parties, extreme music or behaviour

No minors unaccompanied by parents
Children under 10 must be supervised. The property is unsuitable for infants and very young children (See hazards below)

GAS, ELECTRICITY & HEATER

​

The retreat is solar powered and over sunny periods we encourage the use of the free electricity. However it is very important to use electricity conservatively in overcast weather! Gas used for hot water and cooking must be used conservatively.  Firewood will be pre-cut to fuel our very efficient wood heater.
Strictly NO external fires without permission

KITCHEN

​

The kitchen is fully equipped with crockery and cookware. In line with our goals in sustainable living, there is no microwave, dishwasher or electric/gas oven.
There is an efficient compact refrigerator and an esky on hand for extra drinks (byo ice).
Cooking indoors is on two gas hot-plates and on top of our wood oven. The Bakers Wood-Oven is great for baking bread or damper, roasts and perfect for pizzas.
A rice cooker is also available.

BATHROOM.

​

Please enjoy our spacious shower but be prepared to implement short showers (3 mins).

Bathroom and shower products are provided.
Toilets are water-less and self-composting.

SLEEPING OPTIONS

​

Upstairs in the eco lodge we provide two queen-sized beds equipped with doonas and pillows. 

There is also one pullout double mattresses. 5 people can comfortably stay in this open space.

Linen can be provided (sheets, pillow slips and towels) @ $20 per person. 

Or - byo linen. No extra charge.

Our bunk house across the breezeway can accomodate 8 people comfortably. Partitioned into 3 sections, there are 3 queen sized beds and 2 singles on the top bunks,

as well as 5 single beds below.

Linen avalible @ $20 per person.

Which includes sleeping bags with liners in the bunkhouse, two Queen beds made up in the lodge, towels, pillows, and extra blankets.

Alternatively you can bring your own sheets, pillow cases and towels.

Sleeping bags, blankets and pillows available.

All sleeping bags MUST be used with a sleeping bag liner.

Please note; although we have an abundance of beds, bookings are capped at 12 people to reduce impact on the facility and environment.

HAZARDS

​

We wish to be incident free at Springmount, therefore please note the following :

- Unfenced dam
- Steps and stairs to be navigated
- High bunks

- Barbed wire fences 

- Wilderness scrub outside of fenced areas
- Spiders and Snakes (Very rare sightings but they are around in warm weather) No other dangerous wildlife.
- Bees. From 2020 bee hives, which are located well away from our accommodation, reside on the property. Please DO NOT go closer than 10 metres to bee hives.
- Bio-hazard for children near composting toilet.

Eco lodge and bunk-house accommodation. Up to 12 people @ $500 / night.
